Resource Survey at Panchayat Level
Importance of Resource Maps in Local Level Planning
Land, water and the environmental issues related with development attains more importance at the grass root level. The non availability of reliable information of these precious natural resources and its spatial distribution is a major lacuna in drawing out developmental plans at the grass root level. The present day planning is mainly dependent on the non-spatial and secondary information.
The village level developmental plans can be meaningfully prepared only with the help of the cadastral level information on these resources. The micro level information and spatial maps are a necessity for achieving this. For attaining the goals and for the time bound completion of the developmental plans, information of the available resources is a pre-requisite.
Panchayat Resource Mapping programme is designed for the identification and mapping of the local resources spatially, understanding the problems and potentialities of each resources and drawing out conclusions and suggestions through people’s participatory approach.
